Roof repair is not a difficult task. If heights do not bother you, you have basic to average carpentry skills, the tools and time, many times you can repair it yourself and save money.From inside the house, access the attic space. Take note and special care to align and interweave the replacement shingles to the existing ones exactly or as close as possible.Before nailing down the replacement shingles, look closely for any gaps, exposed felt or other irregularities installing the new shingles may have caused.

Be sure to hide and blend in these areas with the other overlapping shingle borders by first applying a bead of the shingle sealant over the hole or crack and firmly pressing the replacement shingle down into it.Nail the shingles into place, but do not drive the roofing nails into the holes left when you removed the damaged shingles.
